Red/Blue Workshop
February 2, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Held in collaboration with Better Angels, this workshop brings together 5-7 self-identified conservative-leaning students and 5-7 self-identified liberal-leaning students for a day of moderated activities and discussions that clarify disagreements, reduce stereotyped thinking, and begin building the relationships needed to find common ground.
UNC PPE held our first Red/Blue Workshop for students in early September, and it was such a success that we have decided to hold another one in the spring! Below is feedback from UNC students who participated in the first workshop:
“The Red/Blue Workshop was an amazing event. I am glad I participated in a program that included individuals of different political persuasions.” -red participant
“This workshop allows you to understand more about how the other side thinks about themselves and their beliefs, which is very insightful.” -blue participant
“The Democratic Party I see in the media is not the same as the true values of the party in reality.” -red participant
“It was great hearing from the younger generation of Republicans. I look forward to furthering the conversations.” -blue participant
If you are interested in being a participant in this workshop (classifying yourself as a red or a blue) or an observer (non-speaking, simply listening) please email ppeprogram@unc.edu to get more information and reserve a spot.
Coffee, pastries and registration will begin at 9:30, the workshop will run from 10-1, and then lunch will be available at the end of the workshop!
