PPE SALON: Vaccine Allocation

October 29, 2020 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Once a safe and effective vaccine for COVID-19 has been discovered, there will not be enough doses for everyone at risk of infection.

Who should be prioritized? Frontline healthcare workers? Elderly residents of long-term care facilities? Members of low-income communities of color which have been disproportionately harmed by the pandemic? How should the U.S. approach the question of international distribution? Should it prioritize its citizens, engaging in “vaccine nationalism?” Or, should it pool its resources with other countries to ensure a fair distribution among low-, middle-, and high-income countries?

Come explore these questions in a fun and lively discussion moderated by Professor Douglas MacKay. Salon will be held from 5-6:30pm, with time for further discussion. Link to Zoom meeting will be shared with those selected to participated.

Links to the readings (three short articles) are HERE.
