Congratulations, Spring 2024 Phi Beta Kappa Inductees!

The PPE Program would like to extend a hearty congratulations to the following students, all PPE minors, who were recently inducted into the UNC-Chapel Hill chapter of Phi Beta Kappa in spring 2024:

North Carolina:

  • Kaylee Anne O’Brien, a junior with political science and philosophy majors and a philosophy, politics, and economics minor, of Asheville.
  • Zoë Luce Brockenbrough, a senior with global studies and peace, war, and defense majors and a philosophy, politics, and economics minor, of Winston-Salem. 
  • Martin Jose Santiago, a senior with a political science major and a philosophy, politics, and economics minor, of Creedmoor. 
  • Christopher Burke Westcott, a senior with political science and history majors and a philosophy, politics, and economics minor, of Jamestown. 
  • Bailey Daynes Noble, a junior with business administration and economics majors and a philosophy, politics, and economics minor, of Chapel Hill. 
  • Harrington Dean Shaw, a senior with economics and philosophy majors and a philosophy, politics, and economics minor, of Chapel Hill. 
  • Hoyt Worthy Lewis, a senior with a philosophy major and philosophy, politics, and economics and English minors, of Raleigh.

New York:

  • Mae Elizabeth Ruddy, a senior with peace, war, and defense and English and comparative literature majors and a philosophy, politics, and economics minor, of Syracuse. 

Texas:

  • Alexa Brooke Ketterer, a senior with a business administration major and Spanish for the professions and philosophy, politics, and economics minors, of Houston. 

South Africa:

  • Lwazi Alwaba Lwandile Sithethi Bululu, a senior with a global studies major and a philosophy, politics, and economics minor, of Gqeberha, Eastern Cape. 

Phi Beta Kappa membership is open to undergraduates in the College of Arts & Sciences and one of the seven professional degree programs offered by Carolina who meet stringent eligibility requirements. Past and present Phi Beta Kappa members from across the country have included 17 American presidents, 41 U.S. Supreme Court Justices, more than 140 Nobel Laureates and numerous artistic, intellectual and political leaders.

UNC-Chapel Hill’s chapter, Alpha of North Carolina, was founded in 1904 and is the oldest of seven chapters in the state. Each year, Phi Beta Kappa chapters and alumni associations across the country raise and distribute more than $1 million in awards, scholarships and prizes benefiting high schools and college students.
