A PPE Survey
We want to hear from you concerning the PPE Minor as well as a new program we are considering. To that end, we hope you will fill out this short questionnaire, half of which concerns the current program and half of which concerns the program we are hoping to establish.
To our pleasure, the number of students minoring in PPE has tripled during the past six years. There are now more than 500 PPE Minors each year. We are keen to build on this success.
We are hoping to establish a unique PPE Dual Degree Master’s Program. This dual degree program would allow UNC students from a wide array of majors — from journalism and business to biology and computer science — to minor in PPE, complete their bachelor’s degree, and graduate with a master’s degree in PPE. By taking specific courses that can count towards both their bachelor’s and the PPE MA, students with AP credits or summer school courses may well be able to complete the PPE master’s program in just four years.
The prospect of graduating with both an undergraduate degree and an MA in PPE will be hugely attractive to prospective undergraduates. Moreover, it will give ambitious UNC students an ideal way to leave campus with something that sets them apart—not only as job candidates, but as systematic thinkers able to synthesize complex information and address serious problems and challenges.
We would greatly appreciate it if you could share your thoughts about the PPE Program and what we might do going forward in the questionnaire below. If you have any questions, suggestions, or ideas, please feel free to reach out to us at ppeprogram@unc.edu!
