Winston is a graduate student in the Department of Political Science where he studies the development and impact of public security and criminal justice policies, along with the advocacy efforts aimed at either reforming or maintaining them. He primarily focuses on case studies from Brazil and the United States. He holds an M.A. in Human Rights Studies from Columbia University and a B.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University. He grew up in the small community of Thibodaux, Louisiana.
