PPE Spring Author Series: Elizabeth Anderson: Norms of Political Discourse

March 24, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Event Description:

Our current political discourse has become toxic, especially when it comes to discussing fraught issues such as racism and sexism. Given a background commitment to democracy, what norms of communication with our fellow citizens should we adopt when discussing such fraught issues? In this session of the PPE Author Series, we will discuss this question with Professor Elizabeth Anderson, a preeminent scholar of social & political philosophy, feminist philosophy, and philosophy of social science. Professor Anderson will deliver an address, which will be followed by discussion. The address will build on some of Anderson’s previous published work, which participants will be required to read in advance. The discussion will be moderated by Professor Asya Passinsky.

The relevant readings will be provided to registered students via email. To allow yourself time to complete the readings and submit questions, please register at least 48 hours prior to the event.

via Zoom (registration required) with Elizabeth Anderson
