Money for Nothing? The Ethics of a Universal Basic Income

March 27, 2018 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

Public talk featuring Douglas MacKay, Assistant Professor of Public Policy at UNC Chapel Hill and faculty member of the UNC PPE Program.

This Spring the UNC/Duke Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) Program is collaborating with Carolina Public Humanities, the public outreach arm of UNC’s College of Arts and Sciences, to highlight our program’s faculty and their research to the general public. For each contemporary challenge, we should ask: What is the ethical course of action? What political risks emerge in confronting it? What are the social and economic costs? Join us for our “Policy Matters: The Philosophy, Politics, and Economics behind Our Most Pressing Issues” Humanities in Action series for 10 lectures on current controversies that demand ongoing dialogue.

All Humanities in Action events take place at Flyleaf Books in Chapel Hill. There are no preparatory readings for these events.

Program Tuition: Tuition is $20.00 for everyone paying at the door. Advance registrants pay $18 per lecture ($13 for GAA members) or can take advantage of our special FLYLEAF SEASON PASS—register for all 10 events for $125.00 ($90.00 for GAA members). Please click here or call 919.962.1544 to register.

Additional discounts are available for UNC students, faculty, & staff according to the policy outlined here.
