First created at Oxford University in the 1920s, the field of Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE) cultivates unique interdisciplinary perspectives on ideas that shape our socioeconomic and political world. In collaboration with Duke/UNC PPE program, we have organized a seminar that features scholarship on contemporary issues from the perspective of three different disciplines. We will learn about education systems and the political activism of children from Alexandra Oprea (political science), the ethics involved in providing health access and care around the world from Ben Meier (public policy), and the demographic sorting in the US that exacerbates polarization from Luc Bovens (philosophy). This thought-provoking seminar will challenge participants to think deeply about our sociopolitical institutions and the human rights implications of their activities.

TIME AND TUITION

9:15 am-3:45 pm, Saturday, March 5.  The tuition is $125 to attend in person or $75 for virtual viewing.  The optional lunch on Saturday is $20.

In-person tuition for teachers is $62.50. Teachers can also receive a $75 stipend after attending (click here for more information) and 10 contact hours for 1 unit of renewal credit. In-person registrants will receive a packet containing background readings, a map to the seminar location, and more about 2-3 weeks before the program date. Virtual participants will receive an email with background materials about 1 week before the program and a Zoom link the day before the program.
