“Where is Democracy Heading?”
Professor Carole Pateman’s publications include Participation and Democratic Theory (1970), The Problem of Political Obligation (2nd edition 1985) and The Sexual Contract (1988) which received the Benjamin Lippincott Award in 2005. The Award is given for a work of “exceptional quality by a living political theorist that is still considered significant after a time span of at least 15 years since the original publication.” Her most recent book, with Charles Mills, is Contract and Domination (2007).
